Breeders Cup Belmont Park 2005

Belmont Park is unlike many American racetracks in that it is a very wide track and does suit the big long striding galloping horse. It will come as no surprise to learn that the Belmont Park racetrack is on an estate of 430-acres and has three tracks to race on. Belmont Park is in the state of New York and as such will be suitable to the European challengers in the Breeders Cup Betting as the weather will be more comfortable for their horses.

Apart from hosting this years Breeders Cup Races, Belmont Park also plays host to the very famous Belmont Stakes, which is the third biggest race in horse racing's Triple Crown. Originally run at Jerome Park in Westchester, N.Y., the Belmont Stakes is the longest of all the Triple Crown races at 1 ½ miles. It is considered that this is the most difficult of the Triple Crown races to win.

Other big race days at the Belmont park track are the Coaching Club American Oaks, the New York Handicap, the Prioress, the Beldame, the Frizette and the Suburban Handicap.

Belmont Park has two unique firsts to its credit and that is the live "call" of the race over public address system, and the other is the photo finish camera.
