A race for two year old colts and geldings raced on the dirt track, the Breeders Cup Juvenile is just over a mile in distance. It was thought that this race would produce a number of Kentucky Derby winners but to date none have gone on to win this most prestigious of prizes. However, in recent years it is the best dirt race that the European runners have performed in, winning twice in the past six years. Although this year’s renewal looks set to go to the Americans once again.

Lookin at Lucky looks like going off favourite in the Breeders Cup Juvenile. Bob Bafferts young gun is a course and distance winner and looks the best placed to strike here. Richard Putrow Jr's D'Funnybone is next best in the betting and comes here off the back of three wins from four starts.

There are four runners from Europe in the field with Aiden O'Brien saddling two of them. Alfred Nobel will be ridden by stable jockey Johnny Murtagh whilst Ryan Moore picks up the ride on Beethoven. Winner of the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot Radiohead's trainer Brian Meehan will be hoping there'll be no surprises for his two year old whilst Vale of York is an outsider for Godolphin. Find out if tipster Tom Lee thinks Radiohead can make the step up in trip in our special Breeders Cup Tips section.
