Following the withdrawal of long time pre-race favourite Septimus, it is the Godolphin trained, Mastery, who is at the head of the market. Winner of the Doncaster St Leger back in September, this horse has travelled well over to the States and is attracting a lot of antepost support. He is currently at 15/8 with UK rival, Father Time next best at 4/1. Trained by Henry Cecil, Father Time could only manage 4th behind Mastery at Doncaster, but that was over 1 mile and 6 furlongs and he may well get this 1 mile four furlongs much the better.

The best of the American contingent seems to be the Todd Pletcher trained, Nite Light, second last time out in the Grade 2 Hawthorne Gold Cup over 1m 2 furlongs on a very muddy dirt track. He should have no difficulty getting the trip here and must be respected. He is currently 7/1
