The Breeders Cup Classic is the richest race of the Breeders Cup World Championships at just over £2 million on offer and the last race on the card. This Grade 1 contest over one mile and two furlongs had been dominated by the US trained horses until John Gosden trained Raven's Pass to upset favourite Curlin to win under Frankie Dettori in 2008. It's another European runner who heads the betting in 2009 with the Aiden O'Brien trained Rip Van Winkle battling it out for favourtism with the US star filly Zenyatta in the Breeders Cup Classic betting.

The outsider of the field but does come here off the back of a win in the Hawthorne Gold Cup at the beginning of October. Also holds an entry in the Breeders Cup Mile. Up against it here.

The veteran of the race was beaten into second last time out in the Pacific Classic by Richard's Kid. The Stable has a good record at the Breeders Cup and the trainer saddled Curlin to his first win before he was sold.
