Breeders Cup Past Winners

It is important to look back at previous Breeders Cup winners when assessing which horse to bet on, whatever the race is. If you are a backer of European runners for example it's important to know if horses from Europe have a good record in the race.

Be careful to assess what kind of surface the races are run on as US trained horses will be more used to running on dirt. It's also worth looking at how tight the racetracks are and then whereabouts the winner was drawn.

This years Breeders Cup is being run at Santa Anita Park for the second year in succession so that should help with regards to assessing the form.

Breeders Cup Marathon Winners

The Breeders Cup Marathon was won for Europe in it's first ever running for Ralph Beckett when four year old Muhannak beat Church Sevice by a head. Only eight runners went to post in the inaugural running of this race, including beaten favourite Sixties Icon who finished fifth.

Breeders Cup Dirt Mile Winners

The US trained horses have dominated the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile in its first two runnings with only one European runner entered last year, Lord Admiral for trainer Charles O'Brien who finished eighth.
