No trainer has dominated the race, but five trainers have won the race twice, C.R. McGaughey III, Francois Boutin, Pascal Barry, Julio Canani and Michael Dickinson.

Top Breeders Cup Turf Trainers

Sir Michael StouteThe Breeders Cup Turf has an excellent record for European trained runners with Sir Michael Stoute having won the race three times, most recently with Conduit in 2008. Aiden O'Brien, Andre Fabre and Saeed Bin Suroor have all had two winners in the race whilst Brian Meehan, Clive Brittain, Pascal Bary and Alain de Royer-Dupre all having a win a peace.

Top Breeders Cup Classic Trainers

John Gosden English trainer John Gosden won this race with Raven's Pass in 2008 and Aiden O'Brien trains the ante-post favourite for the 2009 renewal with Rip Van Winkle. Raven's Pass was only the second European trained horse to win the Breeders Cup Classic, the other being Andre Fabre with Arcangues in 1993. Run on dirt the race has been dominated by the Americans but there looks to be a strong string of European runners making the trip to Santa Anita for 2009.

Top Breeders Cup Juvenile Trainers

Jeremy NosedaBob Baffert trained Midshipman to victory in 2008 which was the American's second success in the race. Aiden O'Brien, Francois Boutin and Jeremy Noseda all have wins in this race but D. Wayne Lukas reigns supreme in this race with five wins.

Bob BaffertAmerican Trainer Bob Baffert has three wins to his name in the Breeders Cup Sprint include wins in both 2007 and 2008. That makes Baffert the most successful trainer in the race's history. The Sprint hasn't been kind to European trained runners with no winners to date in the race.

D. Wayne LukasThe Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies run on dirt is another race that has had no European trained winners to date. The surface and lack of runners sent across for the pond has ensured that this race has been dominated by the Americans, with D. Wayne Lukas having saddled five winners.

Robert FrankelThe European trained horses have had more success in the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf with four winners out fo the ten runnings under this name.
